January in review

Now hear this, now hear this: be on the lookout for a short digi paper to represent a landmark theme of the Merchant of New York City. It will be prominently displayed and avoid repetitive and wordy blogging where there lacks a proper market for word readers. In place of these old sorts of posts, look for newer, leaner, more “fun-fact” Embassy ciphers. Finally, you’ll find some well placed banners and links for reasonably selected brands such as CurationSoft.com … and some other stuff flying around that you will have no trouble passively focusing on. That is all.

Back at the helm …

Yesterday ended a 7 day debrief at the Embassy in NYC from the last 75 days of 2011. From the global financial scandals to ailing job markets, Occupy movements, and changing tech markets to green businesses, independent workers and it’s evolving fields, the Merchant has brings back a slew of intel. I’m fixin’ to publish a digi-paper soon detailing some fun stories and a general direction going forward. Something the World Market can use.

(quasi-dedicated to Sujeiry’s Love Trips book debut Jan 15 … but mostly the tune to close out tonight … and also a popular single from the new Coldplay album I picked up as a X-mas gift last year :) )

Leftovers And The World (Rice) Market In 2012

Leftover rice called "pegao" (pe-gow) via chaqula.comA decent meal was had today and there were these leftovers at the bottom of the rice pot. In a tradition passed down from certain old Puerto Rican matriarchs, scraping out the bottom yielded the most flavorful and crunchy section of the meal. I thought what a great idea it would be to open a place feeding the poor and hungry these scraps.

We’d make them deliciously attractive with a little culinary magic. Yea, and instead of charging more for the magic, we charge less and make up for it with the volume of consumers. That’s when it hit me. Continue reading

Salaams

Another special broadcast, a “what a Merchant says” moment, sponsored in part by the mighty Mos Def from the Embassy to the World Market in 2012. The Merchant has it on good word, it should be a good year for Imagination industries. As for me, I’m just going to go ahead and pretend we haven’t met before. A salaam …

News And Views About Latinos and Occupy Wall Street

As Occupy The Bronx gears up to do another General Assembly this coming weekend, I decided to string together my documentation of what’s occurring on the Latino front, as the Occupy Wall Street movement celebrated it’s one month anniversary. I’ve been at several locations in NYC this week, observing the movements and news bubbling up from the passion and frustration of “the 99%”.

Twitter, NYC Digital And Tech Diversity

Image representing Twitter as depicted in Crun...

All these companies and people are showing up in the most expensive areas in New York. Who’s working there? With unemployment so high, and people scrambling for low wage jobs, who’s really getting the opportunity to make money in the tech field? I began to revisit these questions as the subject came up over and over again these past few weeks. I was compelled to write after last Thursday’s news about Twitter. Continue reading

Merchant says, “Value people.”

WHat?! Really? All of them?

“Yup.”

Even that parasitic, anti-Merchant, no-good (expletive, expletive, expletive)?”

“Is that how you value the person?”

*sigh* … Too-shay, master Jedi Merchant.
